Over 4.12L intoxicating tablets worth Rs 17 crore seized, three arrested in Rajasthan

On Monday, Hanumangarh police launched a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, successfully seizing more than four lakh intoxication tablets and capsules worth an astounding seventeen crore rupees. This operation led to the arrest of three suspects. Among the confiscated drugs were Pregabalin capsules and Tapentadol Hydrochloride tablets. Authorities are continuing their investigations to uncover additional members of the trafficking gang.

7 Charred To Death, Several Injured In Fire At Hotel Near Tarapith Temple In Bengal's Birbhum

Seven guests were killed and several others critically injured after a massive fire broke out at Hotel Bideshinii in Tarapith, West Bengal’s Birbhum district, around 4.30 am on Monday. The blaze began on the ground floor of the G+4 hotel while most guests were asleep. Officials said all seven victims died of asphyxiation after toxic smoke from the burning false ceiling, fiberglass and other inflammable materials spread to the upper floors. Firefighters brought the blaze under control and rescued injured guests, who were taken to Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital. Hotel officials said an electrical short circuit may have triggered the fire, but the exact cause remains unconfirmed. Officials also said the hotel had little or no basic fire detection or prevention equipment. The incident occurred on the last Monday of Shravan, when Tarapith sees a large influx of devotees. Authorities are investigating.

Assam: APDCL Saptagram Office Vandalised, Employees Attacked Over Irregular Supply

An APDCL electricity sub-divisional office in Saptagram in Assam ’s Bilasipara in the Dhubri district was allegedly vandalised on Sunday after a group of agitated locals protested against frequent power disruptions and irregular electricity supply. The protesters allegedly broke open the office gate, entered the premises, and damaged property, while two employees were reportedly assaulted during the incident. An official later lodged an FIR over the alleged vandalism and assault . According to information received, the incident followed mounting frustration among residents over repeated interruptions in the electricity supply in the area. The protesters allegedly forced open the main gate of the electricity sub-divisional office and entered the premises. Property inside the office was reportedly damaged during the confrontation. Two employees were also allegedly attacked as the situation escalated, following which residents confronted officials and staff over the persistent power-related problems. The agitated locals reportedly expressed their anger over the irregular electricity supply and disruptions affecting the area. Following the incident, an official of the electricity sub-divisional office filed a First Information Report in connection with the alleged vandalism and assault. The FIR was lodged after the confrontation at the office, although further details regarding the extent of the damage and the action taken by the authorities were not immediately available. Meanwhile, the Dhubri district unit of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) condemned the incident. The organisation urged the administration to take action against those responsible and demanded the arrest of the accused persons. Authorities are yet to provide further details on the incident, including the extent of property damage and the action initiated against those allegedly involved.
