Walmart made its viral rotisserie chicken into a purse—and kept the $5.97 price. Here’s how to get one.

Walmart rotisserie chicken fans now have a chance to carry around their love for the dish everywhere they go in the form of a new chicken-themed accessory. Inspired by the retailer’s signature rotisserie chicken packaging, Walmart is turning the design into an oversized clutch, selling it to chicken lovers for $5.97—the same price as an actual bag of rotisserie chicken. The quirky bag arrives just in time for National Chicken Month in September. The purse comes in two distinct styles, each modeled after a different chicken flavor. The first bag, modeled after the Traditional flavor, has a purple colorway, while the Lemon Pepper flavor features orange branding . Both purses have a rotisserie chicken image at their center alongside nutritional facts and ingredient information, just like the real chicken bags. The surprising accessory taps into the popularity of the rotisserie chicken for Walmart customers, which according to the retailer , one in every 12 customers purchase at least one rotisserie chicken a year. “With more than 15K social mentions in the last year, Walmart’s rotisserie chicken has officially reached a whole new level of fan-favorite status. We wanted to celebrate this fandom by giving the rotisserie chicken its own moment,” Kim Tunick, Group Director of Brand Experiences and Partnerships at Walmart, said in a press release. “The Chicken Purse turns that love into something customers can carry with them.” In addition to the bag, customers looking to pair the purse with matching accessories may also buy miniature bag charms, all staying on theme. The charms feature two miniature replicas of the chicken bags in both the Traditional and Lemon Pepper “flavor,” each for $5.97, as well as a Great Value Louisiana Hot Sauce and Great Value Lemon Pepper Seasoning charms for $4 per charm. For those wishing to get their hands on the chickenless Chicken Purse, they may do so through the Spark Shop website. The limited-edition purses will drop at 8 a.m. ET beginning Sept. 1. Additionally, the bags will be available in person at the Walmart Welcome Center in Arkansas.
