Three decades of searching have produced roughly 6,300 confirmed planets beyond our Solar System. NASA’s Roman Space Telescope, targeted to launch August 30, could reveal around 100,000 more during its five-year primary mission—with some simulations placing the potential haul as high as 200,000.

The fitness industry's favorite target of 10,000 daily steps may be a myth—at least for older adults, who appear to gain most of mortality's benefits at a considerably lower threshold.
