UP government doubles MBBS, BDS intern stipend to Rs 25,000; 3,928 interns to benefit

The Uttar Pradesh government has increased the monthly stipend for MBBS and BDS interns from Rs 12,000 to Rs 25,000. The Cabinet approved the decision on August 25, 2026, with around 3,928 clinical interns expected to benefit. The revised amount applies to eligible interns at 48 government medical colleges, state institutions and autonomous medical universities. The increase follows student demands for higher compensation and is the second stipend revision under the current state administration.
