Westwater Resources secured a $25 million direct loan from the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) to further develop its Kellyton graphite plant in Alabama. This funding, part of EXIM's Make More in America Initiative, will support construction, equipment installation, commissioning, and operational readiness, aiming for commercial production by 2027. The project is crucial for establishing a domestic supply chain for battery-grade natural graphite, reducing U.S. reliance on foreign sources for this critical mineral.
