Western Canada's largest kimchi and Korean food festival returns to Metro Vancouver

Fans of kimchi rejoice, as Western Canada’s largest celebration of the much-loved food and other Korean cuisine is making its return to Burnaby later this month. “Join us at Canada’s most vibrant Korean community festival! Experience authentic flavors, interactive performances, and the art of kimchi-making,” wrote the festival on its website. “Taste Korean street food, enjoy K-Beauty showcases, hanbok photo sessions, and fun activities for all ages. More than food — celebrate culture, connection, and community.” > > > > > > View this post on Instagram > > > > > > > A post shared by Kimchi & K-Food Festival (@kimchifest.ca) Last year’s event saw over 80,ooo visitors, and this year promises to be bigger than ever with 114 different booths available to check out. There are also eight different experience programs, including kimchi making, a Squid Game-inspired experience, and a K-pop dance competition. Admission to the event is free, with voluntary donations available on site for those wanting to support the future of the festival. The Kimchi and K-Food Festival takes place on Aug. 28 to 29 at Coquitlam Town Centre Park from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Will you be checking it out this year? Let us know in the comments. Richmond Farm Fest returns to celebrate local agricultural roots

Celebrate Richmond’s agricultural roots and bright future with delicious food, community, and outdoor fun at The Richmond Farm Fest. It’s all going down on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the KPU Farm at Garden City Lands, and it’s a full-day affair you don’t want to miss out on. This free, family-friendly event is all about exploring Richmond’s unique blend of urban and rural environments, active farming, and vibrant culinary community. Ready for some farming fun? Check out what’s in store. SUNDAY FUN-DAY Foodies will be delighted to discover the delicious riches at the Farmers Market, from local produce to fresh flavours and artisanal products. Don’t forget to try out some food and drinks from Richmond’s culinary community along the way. Speaking of, the festival will be collaborating with Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), selling a special beer from the school’s brewing program. This year’s beer will be a Raspberry Hefeweizen, made with local berries and KPU’s 50-50 mix of base wheat and Canadian malted barley. SOMETHING FOR ALL AGES Bring the kiddos to the Little Farmers Kids’ Zone for fun activities and check out the agricultural and garden displays for a dose of natural knowledge. Richmond’s agriculture story will be highlighted throughout the day in the Haybale Theatre, platforming the rich farming heritage of the area. The Community Stage will feature lively music, and there will also be farm wagon tours to get up close to the surrounding landscape. Plus, there’s also a culinary demonstration stage with a live demo from Black and Blue Steakhouse Executive Chef Jonathon Lee. CELEBRATE RICHMOND’S PAST AND INSPIRE THE FUTURE The Richmond Farm Fest encourages attendees to walk, cycle, or take transit to the event. To help facilitate that, a free bike and e-scooter valet service is available on-site. If you do decide to drive, free parking is available at the KPU Richmond Campus and Richmond City Hall. Shuttle buses will also be running from these locations during the festival, from 10:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Get ready for a celebration of that Richmond farm life.
