Republican with same name as incumbent advances from Alaska US Senate primary

Dan J. Sullivan has advanced from Alaska’s U.S. Senate primary. Sullivan goes by Dan Sullivan, the same name as the Republican incumbent. He was one of the four top vote-getters after the state’s Aug. 18 primary election and advanced on Tuesday. The incumbent and Democrat Mary Peltola had advanced earlier. Dan J. Sullivan, a retired teacher from the small island community of Petersburg, successfully sued for a spot on the ballot. A top state elections official had said he filed his candidacy with an intent to confuse voters, but a judge invalidated the decision.
