Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called for a coordinated regional approach to combat drug smuggling, urging BIMSTEC member countries to strengthen cooperation against narcotics trafficking, organised crime and terrorism. Addressing the first BIMSTEC home ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, Shah warned that drug trafficking proceeds are used to finance criminal networks and terrorist activities.
