Mumbai emerged as the only Indian city featured in the 2026 Work From Anywhere Index released by International Workplace Group (IWG). The city scored 77 points in its debut, staying ahead of London and Miami. This reflects the growing role of flexible work in shaping where professionals choose to live, work and travel. These include: Climate Broadband internet speed Accommodation facilities Transportation Food and culture Flexibility of workspaces Mumbai scored well in transportation costs, co-working and flexible workspaces, climate, and accommodation. These parameters played an important role in making the financial capital a workcation destination. However, the city failed to score well on other parameters. Slow broadband and poor internet quality were among the negative factors causing problems . Bangkok ranks first in the 2026 index with 106.5 points. Tokyo followed with 96.5 points, and Barcelona secured third place with 95.5 points. Work From Anywhere Index: Other Key Highlights Porto and Vancouver stand among the top five. Reliable infrastructure, flexible workspaces and convenient transport are increasingly important for professionals to combine work with travel. India came ahead of the UK, France, and the US in that metric. India was also found to be the leading flexible office market in the Asia-Pacific region with 79.7 million sq. ft. of flexible office space inventory in its top eight cities in Q2 2025. This is expected to cross 100 million sq ft in 2026.
