Inola smelter owner confident it will be approved

Despite opposition from Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond regarding the proposed $4 billion aluminum smelter in Inola, Century Aluminum's President and CEO, Jesse Gary, expressed confidence that the project will move forward. Gary anticipates groundbreaking by year-end and initial production by late 2029, with the project expected to receive approval for reduced import tariffs. The company is actively addressing community concerns and highlighting the economic benefits and job creation the smelter would bring to the state.
