Baghpat to enter global markets with the resonance of handlooms and the sweetness of honey
Baghpat: The generations-old handloom weaving tradition of Khekra and the sweetness of Baghpat's honey are now ready to establish their identity in global markets. At the fourth Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS), to be held from September 25 to 29 at India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida, more than 20 new exporters, ODOP producers, MSMEs, women entrepreneurs and young entrepreneurs from the district will showcase their business strength. The major attraction will be the Baghpat Home Furnishing products, which received the GI tag in June 2023. Through the Master Weavers of Khekra, the identity of this traditional product will reach international buyers. Along with this, Ambrosia Naturals will also showcase honey and home products.Baghpat Home Furnishing received the GI tag in June 2023. This recognition has been accorded to the skills of artisans engaged in handloom weaving for generations in the Khekra region. The application for the GI tag was jointly submitted by the Directorate of Handloom and Textile Industry, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and the "Master Weavers Cooperative Society Limited, Adarsh Nagar, Khekra". The Master Weavers Cooperative Society produces bedsheets, curtains, tablecloths and running fabric from cotton yarn. The institution has established its identity for strong and attractive weaving through weaver frame looms.In Hall 14 of UPITS, four new exporters from Baghpat have been allotted five stalls. These include one stall each for Weavers Point and Shahid Tex India, Baragaon, two stalls for Via Homes, Khekra, and one stall for Vinay Export, Baghpat. In Hall 9 under the ODOP category, Shamshad Textiles, Baragaon, has been allotted two stalls, while Nitin Jain of The Rising Sun, Rajkumar Bansal of Bansal Textiles, and Ravis Kumar of Trisav Textile have been allotted one stall each. Under the MSME, women and young entrepreneurs category, Manoj Jain of Sidhanam International, Khekra, has been allotted two stalls, while Nasreen of Nasreen Textiles, Charveda Organics, Rajkumar Jain of Prince Handloom, Kapil Arya of Baghpat Bloom Producer Company and Jagdeep Kumar of Ambedkar Mahila Kendra have been allotted one stall each.Deputy Commissioner Industries Rajendra Singh said that UPITS will provide global recognition to the district's entrepreneurs. There is considerable enthusiasm among the district's entrepreneurs regarding this event. In addition, agricultural products from the district will also be showcased here. Ambrosia Naturals honey will establish the district's Ayurvedic identity through Baghpat Bloom Millets.For the first time at the International Trade Show, the Yogi government has established an ODOC Pavilion under the One District One Cuisine initiative. The aroma of the district's delicacies will also make its presence felt in this pavilion. Ghevar from Aminagar Sarai, which has established a global identity, and Baghpat's Balushahi will add sweetness to the experience of foreign visitors. Countries including Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Russia, Thailand and Austria will be present at this trade show.
