AI to transform travel experiences, say experts at Amity University Seminar

Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida Campus, hosted a seminar on World Tourism Day 2026, bringing together leaders from the tourism, hospitality, travel and technology sectors to discuss the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in shaping the future of travel. Organised by the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism, the seminar focused on how AI can enable more personalised, seamless and efficient travel experiences while technology continues to complement the human element of hospitality. Held under the theme “Smart Tourism for a Digital Future: Leveraging AI to Transform Travel Experience,” the seminar examined AI’s growing applications across the tourism value chain, including travel planning, customer experience, personalisation and operational efficiency. Chief Guest, Rahul Himalian, IRTS, Chairman and Managing Director, IRCTC, highlighted technology's role in improving customer experiences. He said AI could make travel more seamless, personalised and efficient, while emphasising that the human element would remain central to tourism and hospitality. Arun Srivastava, Joint Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, stressed the need for responsible digital transformation. He noted that AI was creating new opportunities across the tourism value chain and that technology should support an inclusive, accessible and sustainable tourism ecosystem. Ravi Gosain, President, IATO and Director, ERCO Travels Pvt Ltd, observed that travellers increasingly expect convenience, personalisation and meaningful experiences, making it important for tourism professionals to become more tech-savvy. From the hospitality sector, Kush Kapoor, CEO, Roseate Hotels & Resorts, said AI could personalise guest interactions while technology should complement the warmth and authenticity of hospitality. Other Speakers, including Bhupendra Thakur, General Manager, India ITME Society and Platinum Trade Partner; Rangarajan V, Chief Digital Officer, Defence & Aerospace, Adani Enterprise; Professor Manohar Sajnani, Dean, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism & Director, Amity Institute of Travel & Tourism; Krishan Singh, Lead Asia, Ennea Capital Partners, Former CEO, TUI India and Advisor to Leela Palaces (Brookfield); and Gaurav Mishra, Head Marketing, India & South Asia, Amadeus, discussed AI’s potential in areas such as customer insights, automation, travel planning and personalised experiences. The seminar concluded with a call for stronger industry-academia collaboration to build a smart, sustainable and future-ready tourism ecosystem.
